Running through the city of Monrovia, Liberia’s blooming capital, will be one of the most exciting race experiences of your life. The Liberia Marathon will take you through the most scenic areas the city has to offer. Running on the major roads, you will pass the historic downtown, lively and colorful residential areas and the emerging commercial district. In the longer race categories, a stretch of Monrovia’s unique city beaches is a much part of the race as the triumphal appearance on the iconic Tubman Boulevard before the finish line at the freshly renovated SKD Sports Complex comes into sight.
All race will take place on the same round course with different starting areas, but the same finish line. Here are the details:
The Start is just outside the national stadium, still within the SKD Sports Complex. Runners leave the area and after a small loop close to RIA Highway, head towards ELWA Junction, turn to the right on Tubman Blvd and take 72nd to hit Japanese Freeway. Passing various estates and communities, the runners will eventually hit the Freeport Area where the half-marathon runners will wait. The will now continue of the same course, cruising through Mamba Point, down to PHP Community park and up to the Executive mansion again, before following Tubman Blvd and SD Cooper Road to finish full circle and celebrate their finish inside the stadium.

The runners will take off around Freeport area, just half way of the entire course. After leaving the Western peninsula and climbing up to Mamba point, they will cross Redemeption beach before passing the Executive mansion and settling into the long stretch on Tubman Boulevard. There they can relax a bit on a more flatter part towards the 10k race start and beyond before a minor but steady climb will request the legs to work.
The (in)famous 10k footrace traditionally starts at the JFK Memorial Hospital and 2022 is no exception. Participants for the 10k foot race as well as the wheel chair and crutches races will be hitting Tubman Boulevard, enjoying a great view on Peace Island befor eventually branching on SD Cooper Avenue where after a last climb the eyes can be set on the SKD entrance. Don’t stop there but run into the stadium where the finishing arch and your medal is awaiting you.
