Liberia Marathon

The Liberia Marathon consists of three races in one. The event includes a full marathon, a 10K foot race and a 10k race for persons on wheelchairs or crutches. Runners of all skill levels and ages are encouraged to participate in any race.

LIBERIA MARATHON TRUST

The Liberia Marathon Trust (LMT) was established in 2011 as Liberian-based Non-Profit Organisation. The LMT is the host organisation of the Liberia Marathon races. 

Vision

Institutionalising road-running as important part of the Liberian professional and recreational sports sphere.

Mission 

Organising competitive long-distance road racing opportunities (including the full marathon distance) on international standards for Liberian professional athletes and the general public and promoting Liberian long-distance athletes on the international agenda.

Board of Trustees

The LMT is managed by the Board of Trustees, which is responsible for the mid- and long-term development of the organisation, the strategic orientation, and financial and institutional sustainability. The Board further supervises the organisation of the indivicual race events, and provides advice to the organising committee.

 

CHARLES D. COOPER - Chair of the Board

Charles D. Cooper is one of the Co-Founders of the Liberia Marathon and a strong promoter and supporter of the race for the past decade. Charles is in particular passionate about developing the Liberian long-distance running potential for successful competing in an international environment,

The Liberia Marathon Trust benefits from Charles’ great network and long-standing experience as entrepeneur, communication expert and innovative thinker.

JULIANE WEYMANN - Member of the Board

Juliane moved to Liberia in 2011, joined the Liberia Marathon team shortly after and haven’t left it ever since. She served as Co-Race Director and Advisor to the Race Director before she became a board member in 2016.

Juliane is a dedicated runner herself and strongly believes in opportunity through sport. She brings decade-long experience in international cooperation, great organising skills and an overdose of energy to the table.
